BLOG 5: CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAM

Hi guys, how are you? I hope that the return to classes is good for you, today I will be talking about the changes that I would make to my study program. To contextualize and remember a little, I study social work at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Chile, it seems to me that the mesh of my career is fantastic, the first time I see it it seemed to me something that I could not miss compared to the mesh from other universities. What does leave something to be desired is the Juan Gomez Millas campus, is where I must go most days of the week: The casinos were not full open (before the ocupation), so students must go outside or buy food that many times is not enough for all the students; Being a public university, the tuition cost is a little lower, but even so, it is largely out of my family's budget, it is not something that affects only me, but also a big part of my classmates. So I could say that my study program is expensive in my context despite the fact that there are other higher ones.

If there is something that really catch my attention and is not to my total liking, it is the figure of academic teachers. I have realized that because they have an academic degree, they are allowed attitudes or actions that would not be entirely friendly, empathetic, respectful of the students, for example, I think that the fact of recording the classes is a very good tool given that we are in a pandemic and there are many students who need this resource, some teachers do not do it and it seems to me that they lack empathy in their decision no matter how much they want to defend face-to-face. The point is that some academics are not aware of their privileges and that can cause inconvenience at class time. As this is my second year, I would not have much to say since I still have to experience the "nucleos", which are our practices in social work, perhaps by then I will have complaints or a much more formed opinion on the subject.

I send you hugs and good wishes for this week!!!
